The body of a high-ranking Russian official was recovered from the entrance of a house on Jamshina Street in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is believed that he died after falling 160 feet from the window of the 16th floor building. The woman, Marina Yankina, headed the Russian Defense Ministry's financial support department in the Eastern Military District.
Fontanka, the mouthpiece of the Russian Investigative Committee and the Western Military District, confirmed the news of his death. An investigation has already started regarding his mysterious death.
Marina Yankina's personal belongings were found on the 16th floor of a building. According to the report of the media "Mash on Moika", Yankina called her ex-husband and told what she was going to do.
Mash on Moika also reports that Yankina told her ex-husband where she kept his belongings. She asked her ex-husband to call the police. His body was found a few minutes later.
Yankina worked in the Central Tax Service Department. He also served as vice-chairman of the Property Relations Committee of St. Petersburg. He has been at the center of Russia's fundraising efforts for the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war since February 24 last year.
Yankina's body was recovered days after the body of Russian General Vladimir Makarov was recovered. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently fired Makarov. He is trust to have committed suicide.
Earlier on December 26, Russian lawmaker Pavel Antonov died after falling from a hotel window in India. Alexey Maslov, the former head of the Russian Ground Forces, died in hospital on December 25. Alexander Buzhakov died the day before on 24 December. He headed Russia's Admiralty Shipyard for a decade.
