 Tonsillitis symptoms may require surgery

 Tonsillitis symptoms may require surgery

Tonsils are two glands on both sides of the inside of our throat. This gland is part of our body's defense system or immune system, which helps in primary prevention by producing antibodies when needed. And tonsillitis means inflammation of the tonsils. It is one of the most common problems in children, which can occur repeatedly throughout the year.

Why is inflammation of the tonsils? In most cases, it is caused by a virus or bacterial infection. Tonsillitis is usually caused by a virus (such as the influenza virus) in young children. Seasonal flu increases the incidence of tonsillitis in winter. Also, 'group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus' bacteria can cause tonsillitis in children aged 5 to 15 years.
Symptoms

1. Moderate to severe fever.

2. Sore throat, difficulty in swallowing food and swallowing, child does not want to eat, often vomits.

3. Headache, earache.

4. Bad smell in the mouth and drooling from the mouth.

5. Change in voice.

6. In addition, if the tonsils are enlarged, it may become difficult to breathe.

Examining the inside of the throat with a torch shows that the tonsils on both sides are red and swollen. Sometimes a yellow or white coating falls on it. In addition, the wheel-like lymph nodes on both sides of the neck become enlarged and painful.

Treatment

Paracetamol acts as a pain reliever for viral tonsillitis. Apart from this, taking warm liquid food like kulkuchi, ginger juice, honey, soup etc. with hot water and salt is beneficial.

However, in case of bacterial tonsillitis, along with these, antibiotics should be taken as per the doctor's advice. It should be remembered that various complications may occur if the entire course of antibiotics is not completed.
Complexity

Both immediate and remote complications can occur. Peritonsillar abscess, rheumatic fever and complicated kidney disease called post-scriptococcus glomerulonephritis can result from this.

When to operate

Tonsillitis treatment does not require tonsillectomy or removal of the tonsils in all cases. If there are recurrent infections (seven times in a year or more than five times in two consecutive years), chronic tonsillitis, accumulation of pus around the tonsils, difficulty breathing due to enlarged tonsils, or obstructive sleep apnea, surgery is recommended by a specialist. can be done
